This painting depicts the moment when you realize you have "matched the hatch." The beauty of the fight begins with the first tug of the line and the dance begins. You match wits with the trout as shown in the moment when it shatters the stillness of the water and seizes it's prey. The shake, the leap, and the dive, the battle begins and ends with a gentle catch and release. It's a mutual respect with a worthy adversary, until you meet another day.
