Description
“Olive Brown” portrays the angler and the trophy brown both engaged in the art of fishing. When you’re stalking big, hungry brown trout lurking near the undercut banks, tie on a streamer with some olive to imitate a bait fish. You might just get hooked up with a huge trout slamming your streamer. Catching the big browns is challenging, because they like to feed at night. Start stripping to work your fly through the target zone. Bam, tight lines.
History of the Brown Trout in North America:
Fishing for browns has been a popular indulgence throughout history. The brown trout was a European immigrant and now inhabits six continents. The non-native brown trout was transported to America in 1883 and introduced in 1889 to the Madison River in Montana. People often called the trout a “German Brown or Loch Leven Trout,” as brown trout originated in Europe and most were from Germany, Scotland, and England. The brown trout adapted easily to its non-native environment. It is aggressive and chases native cutthroat trout out of good spots in the stream. The brown trout are better than other trout at surviving warm streams and slow water. They can also thrive in lakes and reservoirs. The fall spawning trout has an advantage over other trout species as its newly hatched fry live in cooler water and are not usually affected by drought conditions.
