Our spiral notebooks are 6" x 8" in size and include 120 pages which are lined on both sides. The artwork is printed on the front cover which is made of thick paper stock, and the back cover is medium gray in color. The inside of the back cover includes a pocket for storing extra paper and pens.

Maui is seeing the end of an era as the sugar farming industry in Hawaii has come to an end. The last Hawaiian sugar plantation shut down at the end of 2016. The lush green sugar cane fields no longer greet island visitors as they arrive on airplanes. Which is the scene you see here in my painting. Alexander & Baldwin 36,000-acre plantation will take on a whole new look. It will take a few years of planning and evaluating several categories of potential replacement crops, which will include energy crops, agroforestry, grass-finished livestock operations, diversified food crops, and orchard crops.
Having the opportunity to paint this scene was quite an honor and education for me.

Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. She and her husband have relocated to Grass Valley, California. They purchased a commercial building to reestablish their art studios. McGuire's Hawaii and California landscape oil and acrylic paintings are gracing the homes and offices of collectors nationally and internationally.
