The Big Island of Hawaii has the worlds most active volcano on it, Kilauea. It has been flowing lava since 1983 and has wiped out one town and many homes in it's path to the ocean. Now as of early May 2018, new fissures have opened and new lava flows have destroyed up to 700 homes, filled in at least one popular bay and has cut off multiple roads. Thousands of people have been effected and there is no end in sight.
I will donate proceeds from all my print and products sells of this painting to "Hawaii Island Volcano Recovery Fund". If you want to donate to help go to hawaiicommunityfoundation.org
My painting shows the lava flow as it hits the ocean. The jagged cliffs of lava rock are black against the sky. Hot steam bellows up as the lava hits the water. The boarder around the image is a painting technique I use to crackle paint. It gives the illusion of a decorative mat.
