The original painting is 30 x 66. I created this painting on commission. The title is named for the owner. This painting had to be sized perfectly to fit above a king sized bed. I had to work backwards from the outside of the frame and liner to get an exact match for the canvas. The outside of the frame had to be the same width of the bed frame.
The landscape scene is made up from a number of images that represent special places to the owner. The wild flowers in the foreground are from the "Old Brockway Gulf Course" in King Beach, Lake Tahoe. The mountains represent the Sierra Mountains. The cabin with the smoky chimney added a little personal touch to the scene. Originally there was no stream in the painting, just a vast green meadow. I added the stream and sandy beach because the size of this painting demanded it.
I really enjoyed working on this project and I'm happy to know the owner will treasure this painting for many years. He told me it will be a family heir loom.

McGuire's choice of subject matter comes from her love of nature and all that surrounds her on a daily basis. She paints in large and small formats. Three of the five galleries that represented her work were destroyed by the Lahaina fire. The two remaining galleries are Karen Lei's Gallery in Kahakuloa and Karen Lei's...
