Description
The yellow hibiscus flower is the symbol of happiness, sunshine and good luck. Red is a symbol of love and passion. My painting represents both symbols. Sunshine and passion, true love and good luck, strength and happiness are great combinations to have.
Heres some interesting medicinal facts about hibiscus flowers. Hibiscus tea, tinctures, dried petals or flowers are traditionally thought to help everything from heart disease to the common cold. There are even reports that say hibiscus tea has been known to help reduce blood pressure.
A yellow species called the Hawaiian hibiscus became the Hawaiian official state flower in 1988, despite it not being native to Hawaii. This is Hawaii’s second official state flower. The first was the red hibiscus which was native to Hawaii. As they say "Fame is fleeting".
My painting was done with the "Dutch Pouring" technique. Once the paint was dry, I enhanced it to give more shape to the petals and added the pistil along with its shadow.
NOTE; This painting, along with my entire inventory and art studio, was destroyed in the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023.
