This area of West Maui is called Olowalu. It is half way between Maalea and Lahaina. It's a beautiful spot with amazing views. Olowalu is fast becoming my favorite place on Maui. The mountains are dramatic and the ocean views are spectacular. You can see four Islands from this spot. No mater what time of day I go there I am rewarded with awe inspiring eye candy.
For this painting I did a red orange underpainting to help keep all the warm mid value tones unified.

Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. She and her husband have relocated to Grass Valley, California. They purchased a commercial building to reestablish their art studios. McGuire's Hawaii and California landscape oil and acrylic paintings are gracing the homes and offices of collectors nationally and internationally. McGuire's choice of subject matter comes from her love of nature and all that surrounds her on a daily basis. She paints in large and small formats.
