"Take Home Maui" is a landmark in Lahaina Maui. The building is located on Dickinson street, it houses a deli and farmers market. Visitors can mail home pineapples and other tropical fruit from this store. They have a very large bird cage on the porch with a very verbal parrot named Kehau, who enjoys whistling at everyone who walks by. "Take Home Maui" started out as a road side fruit stand in Lahaina Maui in 1978.
I was able to capture this beautiful sunset on my way to an art opening at Village Gallery with my iPhone and knew instantly I had to paint it. I went back several times to take more reference photos of the building, plants and signs.
