Did you know it takes almost 3 years for a single pineapple to reach maturation. When European explorers first encountered the fruit in the Americas, they called them "pineapples" because of the resemblance to pine cones. Although the fruit originated in South America, the majority of the world's pineapples now come from Southeast Asia. the ones that grow here on the Islands are mainly grown for local consumption. Maui has the best, sweetest pineapples any where.
I painted this realistic pineapple on an acrylic pour background. It makes for a nice combo, don't you think?
Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. She and her husband have relocated to Grass Valley, California. They purchased a commercial building to reestablish their art studios.
