The Banyan Tree in Lahaina holds a very special place in my heart. It sparks my imagination every time I see it. I can imagine a wonderful treehouse, much like the one in the old movie “Swiss Family Robinson”. Ever since seeing that movie as a child I’d Day dream about living in such a treehouse. However, I laugh every time I visit the tree at sunset. That’s when the birds come in to roost for the night. And I mean hundreds if not thousands of them. The noise is so loud. I won’t even mention the little droppings they so lovingly offer to all who stands under the branches. On second thought, a threehouse would not be a good idea. I’ll keep that childhood dream where it belongs, in my imagination.
