Artist's Description
This little guy is all arms, eight of them in fact. He is enjoying a swim in the ocean. Happy there to be alive and not someones dinner. Octopus is a magical creature of the sea who is often feared, revered, and unseen. This master of disguise and sea legend has something to say to us about how we live our lives and the mysteries it holds.Like other water-dwelling creatures, the octopus animal totem symbolizes purity, emotional, psychic and creativity. The octopus spirit guide is also known to be symbolic of a keen spiritual psyche and inspires others to channel theirs.
The technique I used for the abstract background is acrylic pouring. I love using this technique for my underwater paintings.
About Darice Machel McGuire
Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. McGuire's Hawaii and California landscape oil and acrylic paintings are gracing the homes and offices of collectors nationally and internationally. McGuire's choice of subject matter comes from her love of nature and all that surrounds her on a daily basis. She paints in large and small formats. Three of the five galleries that represented her work were destroyed by the Lahaina fire. The two remaining galleries are Karen Lei's Gallery in Kahakuloa and Karen Lei's...
