This scene was from a photo I took while having dinner at Captain Jacks, in Lahaina on Front Street. It was during the golden hour just before sunset. If you look closely at the Pioneer Inn, inside our favorite ice cream shop, Banyan Treats, you’ll see Jen and Reece the owners behind the counter. They are in silhouette and may be hard to see in this small version of the painting. The banyan Tree Park is bathed in the warm light of the setting sun. The white square shaped car is our Scion. The red convertible is my dream car, I had to add it because you never know when dreams come true. There are 15 people in this painting. Can you find them all?
The Pioneer Inn burned down in the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023. My painting was also destroyed, both are now part of Lahaina's history.

Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. She and her husband have relocated to Grass Valley, California. They purchased a commercial building to reestablish their art studios. McGuire's Hawaii and California landscape oil and acrylic paintings are gracing the homes and offices of collectors nationally and internationally. McGuire's choice of subject matter comes from her love of nature and all that surrounds her on a daily basis. She paints in large and small formats.
