Front Street in Lahaina Maui is an old historic whaling town. It is the only full-featured, walkable “down-town” you’ll find on Maui. There are a wide variety of restaurants, such as Cheese Burger In Paradise the green building featured in my painting. And lots of ice cream and or gelato shops. Ono Gelato, the blue building, is my favorite.
The fence you see in my painting is refer to as the "Seawall". This is a great place to watch the sunset or any number of ocean activities happening around the harbor. I was lucky to photograph a local guy fishing for his dinner when I was taking my reference photos. He was a must add for my painting.
The couple holding hands are tourists out enjoying a day of shopping and eating. Did I mention there are a lot of restaurants in Lahaina?

Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. She and her husband have relocated to Grass Valley, California. They purchased a commercial building to reestablish their art studios. McGuire's Hawaii and California landscape oil and acrylic paintings are gracing the homes and offices of collectors nationally and internationally.
