Artist's Description
While all macaws are technically parrots, not all parrots are macaws. Even though I titled this painting "Colorful Parrots", these two are actually macaws.
Generally, the Birds represents long life and freedom. The macaw is often a symbol of sacred union and lasting relationships. Macaws forms a pair bond and mate for life. The lifespan of a macaw can reach 80 years.
My mixed media painting was done with tissue paper to create the texture of the branches and vines. I then layered the paint by dry brushing over the textures. Once I was satisfied with the colors, I then painted in the birds.
NOTE; This painting, along with my entire inventory and art studio, was destroyed in the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023.
