Between Heaven and the Sea is a most appropriate title for this swimming honu ( Hawaiian green sea turtle). She is coming up for air and checking things out. Her world is vast, her life is long and her adventure is beginning. Honu has great meaning here in Hawaii. Honu is considered an aumakua, or guardian spirit. Honu symbolizes endurance, longevity and good luck. The background of my painting was done with the acrylic pouring technique.
