This was such a fun painting to paint. I had been experimenting with this style for a few months when I came up with this subject. It was during the winter and as usual, I was dreaming of warm tropical beaches. The simplicity of the scene and soft faded colors surrounding the main subject give the painting the illusion of 3D. It hung in my family's Gallery in Lake Tahoe for a short time. A customer became quite taken with it. He stared at it the whole time his wife shopped around. He mentioned it to her but she didn't seem to have the same feeling he did. They left without buying it. A few months later I got a phone call from the gentleman asking if the painting was still there. I said yes. He was very relieved and told me he had been dreaming about it everyday since he saw it and could I please ship it to him. I was more then happy to sell him the painting. I knew it was going to the right person.

Darice Machel McGuire lived on the beautiful Island of Maui from 2012 until the Lahaina fire on August 8th, 2023, destroyed her art studio. She and her husband have relocated to Grass Valley, California. They purchased a commercial building to reestablish their art studios. McGuire's Hawaii and California landscape oil and acrylic paintings are gracing the homes and offices of collectors nationally and internationally. McGuire's choice of subject matter comes from her love of nature and all that surrounds her on a daily basis. She paints in large and small formats.
