They say the drive from Queenstown to Wanaka on the South Island of New Zealand along the Crown Range Road is 'not for the faint hearted'. Actually on a nice day, it isn't bad...as long as you pay attention, as long as you aren't towing a trailer or driving a big motor home, as long as it isn't windy, as long as it isn't snowing or raining! Yes, on a nice day it is a gorgeous drive with many beautiful views of the mountains and valleys all around! It’s hard not to stop and every viewing area for some photos! The Crown Range Road one of the highest paved roads in New Zealand reaching an altitude of 1.121m (3,677ft) above the sea level. This is one of the viewpoints from near the summit of that road.
